Nemaslug Slug Control

Nemaslug Slug Control
Brief Description

Slugs are the number 1 garden pest, feeding on the foliage, flowers, stems and roots of plants. They leave ragged holes in the leaves or in the case of younger plants, they can be totally destroyed. Slugs come in all shapes, colour and sizes, including the small, black, sneaky ones which live underground and the fat frilly monsters up to 4inches/10cms long. The good news is that Nemaslug® will polish them all off naturally. Nemaslug® should be applied between March and October (when the soil temp is above 5°C/40°F).

Slugs have several characteristics in common - They are covered in a watery mucus - which leaves a "slime trail" and they require water for reproduction. Slugs are able to breed throughout the year and do the most damage in warm, damp spring and autumns. Control slugs naturally by applying Nemaslug® - the No.1 bird-friendly solution for slugs. Nemaslug® comes as a powder, which is mixed with water and applied to the soil with a watering can or hose-end feeder, where it kills slugs BOTH above and below ground. Each application of Nemaslug® will control slugs for 6 weeks. For the best results, apply Nemaslug® as soon as the soil temperature reaches 5°c/40°f and re-apply regularly every 6 weeks.
Nemaslug® contains millions of beneficial nematodes which are microscopic creatures that occur naturally in your soil. They are invisible to the naked eye and come as a powder. Once the nematodes have been applied to the soil, they search out and invade the slugs. As the nematodes multiply inside the slug, it will stop feeding and will burrow underground to die. As it decomposes in the soil, the nematodes are released back into the soil to search out more slugs and the whole process starts again.

Nemaslug® can also be applied at specific times of the year to protect :-
• Herbaceous plants - treat from early April onwards.
• Bedding plants - treat where you will be planting a week before planting.
• Potatoes - apply immediately after first earthing up.
• Vegetables - treat immediately after planting or as seedlings emerge.
• Underglass - treat at anytime of year.

How to apply?

Simply mix the harmless powder with water and apply to the soil using a watering can or hose end feeder. Use the whole pack before the expiry date ,which is marked on the inside of the pack and will be at least a couple of weeks. Apply in a broad band around your plants to increase the chances of slugs coming into contact with the nematodes.  For optimum results apply every 6 weeks.

How is it sent?

Nemaslug® is a perishable, living product, so it is sent out fresh by Royal Mail 1st class post. 1 or 2 packs will go through your letterbox and should be popped in the fridge as soon as possible - they are fine on the doormat while you are at work.
